All minors must be accompanied by an adult during the entire event. Please note, this event is scheduled for 4 hours. However, feel free to leave whenever you’d like. We will continue removing the piles of trash in this stretch of Arcade Creek in this area. This event will be conducted in coordination with the folks at American River Flood Control District who have graciously agreed to haul off all of the trash and encampment debris collected during this event! Sturdy, waterproof boots, long sleeves and long pants are recommended. Folks desiring to enter any water areas will need hip or chest waders. This will be an easy to difficult level event with uneven terrain. RCWA will provide bags, but please bring along your grabbers, buckets, cultivators, rakes and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously. Overall, be safe, have fun and get some โExercise with a Purposeโ as Bill Templin says. | 5 | 6 09:00 -12:00 2024.12.06 Please join Team Ali for this cleanup of Brooktree Creek, a major source of encampment trash and debris that we find in upper stretches of Arcade Creek. We will continue to partner with Arcade Creek – Adopt A Creek Project. AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 14 years old. Minors older than 14 are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event. Please bring water and only do what you are comfortable doing. As always, you can leave whenever you want or need. This cleanup location has some challenging access spots into the creek and may require a rope to get into the channel, however, there are some flat spots as well for easy pickings. There will be water in the creek, therefore, hip and/or chest waders are recommended. There will be hauling involved in the event you don’t have waders, so please come out and lend a hand regardless. We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy waterproof footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. If you have a cultivator or shovel, those will also be handy. There will be water in the creek. Participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water, if any. Entry into any waters is always optional. As with all events shared on our Page, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously. 15 09:00 -12:00 2024.12.15 The last set of storms inundated scores of camps along Steelhead Creek, inside the levee flood protection zone. All of these camps were upstream from the tremendous, backbreaking work performed by RCWA volunteers and the ACTenviro team earlier this year. While we cannot erase the damage done, we will be working diligently to mitigate further damage before the next storms. Please come out and help with this very important project. The work site will be on the WEST bank of Steelhead Creek. We will meet at the levee gate on the WEST side of Steelhead Creek. PLEASE be on time (early ok) since we have to lock the gate behind us. At 9:00 am SHARP, we will caravan to the cleanup site. Late comers will not be accommodated. Folks that might need to leave early are welcome. Our great partners at Reclamation District 1000 have agreed to haul off all trash and debris removed by volunteers! The event will range in difficulty from easy to advanced and is not suitable for children under the age of 16. There will be plenty of hard-core badgering (digging out the big stuff), but also lots of easy detail work along the flat floodplain above the creek. We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. As there is water in the creek and side channels, participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. Entry into any waters is always optional.
