On Water Clean-Up

In partnership with American River Raft Rentals, you’ll raft down the river, not just enjoying the scenery, but actively picking up trash and pulling invasive plants. Shift description:
**13 years and older welcome**Join us on the American River for an on-water clean-up starting at Sunrise and ending at River Bend. We are partnering with American River Raft Rentals to raft down the river picking up trash and pulling invasive plants.
Please arrive by 8:00AM to sign in and receive a safety briefing. We will head out by 8:15AM and plan to make it to the end of the route by 12:30pm. Rafters, kayakers, canoers, scuba divers, etc. are invited!
If you don’t have a pick up plan you can use American River Raft Rentals shuttle service back to Sunrise by 1:00pm. Everyone registering through this link will have a spot on an ARRR raft reserved for them, if you plan on bringing your own boat or scubaing please let the volunteer manager know at volunteer@arpf.org.
Arcade Creek Clean Up
38.638056,-121.402222 (Roseville Road Station @ Longview)We will be continuing our progress with Arcade Creek on the backside of the Haggin Oaks Golf Course and also following the goats! This area is just downstream from the Sacramento Horsemen’s Association, but most easily accessed through the Roseville Road Lightrail Station in the middle of Interstate 80. The project area has TONS of shade!
This area is filled with trash from old encampments and illegal dumping. There may be some shallow water in the creek, so boots are recommended. Waders will not be needed for this cleanup.We will meet at the Roseville Road Station and caravan to our parking spot promptly at 9:00 am. Therefore, please arrive 10-15 mins early.AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 14 years old. Minors 14 and older are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event.Please bring lots of hydration and only do what you are comfortable doing. As always, you can leave whenever you want or need. This cleanup location has some challenging access spots into the creek and may require a rope to get into the channel, however, there are some flat spots as well for easy pickings.We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy waterproof footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. If you have a cultivator or shovel, those could also be handy. Participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into water, if any. Entry into any waters is always optional.As with all events shared on our Page, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. American River Clean Up
1633 Dreher St, Sacramento, CA 95811-0505, United StatesDue to a concerted effort by RCWA volunteers and Sacramento County Regional Parks, all the heaping piles of trash along the Sacramento Northern Bikeway Trail Bridge (the Pipe Bridge) are quickly vanishing! Nevertheless, there are still a few trashy spots left so we are headed back.We will focus on the steep, rocky river banks, where no one else will go. There will also be plenty of easy trash nearby for those not able to brave the steep banks. There should be something for everyone.As with all nearly all of our events, sturdy, waterproof footwear would be helpful but sturdy shoes/boots should also work just fine. Long pants and long-sleeve shirts are highly recommended. This will be a difficult level event with a moderate walk.AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 14 years old. Minors 14 and older are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event.In an effort improve access to the cleanup site, we have permission to park on top of the levee. At 8:15 am, we will form a caravan starting at 1633 Dreher Street (located off North 16th Street just before Capitol Casino) and drive in together. The gate will be closed and locked at 8:30 am sharp, so please be early.We will provide bags, but please bring along your grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. If you have a cultivator or shovel, those could also be handy. Participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to enter any streams or rivers. American River Parkway Foundation's Mile Steward Clean-Up
This event is hosted by the American River Parkway Foundation (ARPF):
Want to make a direct impact on the Parkway? The ARPF’s 46 dedicated Mile Stewards each “adopt” and care for a mile of the riverbanks, even getting recognized on directional signs along the paved bike trail! We invite you to volunteer alongside a Mile Steward at an upcoming cleanup and help them keep their mile looking beautiful. It’s a fantastic way to contribute to the Parkway’s health and see your efforts make a difference.
Shift description:
Join the College Greens East HOA, ARPF Volunteer Mile Stewards at Mile 11S, for a Clean-Up on the American River Parkway. We’ll be clearing trash and debris. Please arrive by 8:50am to sign in and receive a safety briefing. Volunteers will head out to clean by 9:10am. There is free street parking. Kayakers, canoeist, and paddleboarders are welcome.All ages are welcome, an adult must accompany minors under 16 years old AND must have a youth liability waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian on file with ARPF. Minors aged 16 and 17 can attend volunteer events unaccompanied but must have a youth liability waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian on file with ARPF. Everyone needs to watch ARPF’s safety video before the clean-up. ARPF will do a brief introduction and another safety talk before the clean-up.
