River City Waterway Alliance – Ali's Friday Arcade Creek Cleanup at American River College
This should be our last Arcade Creek Mop-Up of Arcade Creek behind ARC’s Nature and Wildlife Sanctuary! Please meet at ARC’s North Parking Lot, accessed from Myrtle Avenue (near Kohler Creek). We will then caravan to our parking spot near the Horticulture Center. We will start PROMPTLY at 8:30 am so please arrive early so you don’t miss the caravan to our parking spot deeper into the campus. After our safety chat, we will continue to clean creek channel and along the top of the banks. We expect some sections of the creek will have water in this stretch.RCWA is so happy to continue partnering with Ali and Arcade Creek Adopt-A-Creek Project to continue cleaning Arcade Creek. Please bring water and only do what you are comfortable doing. The creek is fairly dry making trash and debris easily accessible and visible. Rain boots or sturdy shoes are nice to protect from sand and fox tails and long shirt/pants are ideal to protect from the sun and any scratches & scrapes. This event will range in difficulty from easy to difficult, with some pretty easy pickins’ around the flat grassy upper banks.RCWA will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy footwear, grabbers, buckets and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. Recommended (but not required) boots or rain boots. As with all events shared by RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.Overall, be safe, have fun and get some “Exercise with a Purpose” as Bill Templin always says!Thank you!River City Waterway Alliance

River City Waterway Alliance – South Lake Tahoe Cleanup at Johnson Meadow
We are so excited to offer an RCWA field trip to South Lake Tahoe for a fun, getaway event! Please accommodate for drive time to SLT for this site location. We will be visiting Johnson Meadow and cleaning hidden trash left by encampments and litterbugs that have come and gone. Our tour guide will show us the natural beauty and educate us on its history. We will find a nice, scenic location to have a picnic out in the beautiful area and continue to scout and remove trash that has plagued this location. If we finish early, we will caravan to a second scenic meadow near Trout Creek and a granite Indian Grinding Rock, where we will wander for trash to search and destroy. Please pack a lunch that you can carry in a backpack and a towel/blanket to sit on, as we will be wondering the many trails and footpaths made.Shovels may not be needed, but a cultivator and trash grabber will be. What we find and bag will need to be hauled back to our starting point … however far that may be.The cleanup will end when we want it to, maybe earlier or later. It will be a relaxing and enjoyable day for us all. These areas are fairly flat with moderate walking. There is water in the Upper Trucker River and Trout Creek, so bring a towel and extra clothes if you may be so inclined to take a dip!Close toed shoes or hiking boots, pants, and a long shirt may be preferred, but shorts and a t-shirt should be fine. A change of clothes would be good to have on hand.RCWA will provide bags, but please bring along your grabbers, buckets, cultivators, rakes and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.Overall, be safe, have fun and get some “Exercise with a Purpose” as Bill Templin says.Thank you!River City Waterway Alliance
