River City Waterway Alliance - Arcade Creek Mop Up at Keoncrest
We will be returning to this stretch, just upstream from where we stopped last Saturday behind Caliber Collision. We will be focusing on the trash and debris within the creek channel and welcome anyone who would like to clean along the top banks.There is water in some stretches of the channel, but boots should be good, except for a few deeper pools of water. We will be meeting along Keoncrest and entering behind the 4-plexes.This cleanup will have some challenging access spots into the creek and may require a rope to get into the channel, however, there are some flat spots as well for easy pickin’.The event will range in difficulty from moderate to hard and will not be suitable for children under the age of 16.We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy WATERPROOF footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. Participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. Entry into any waters is always optional.As with all events shared on our Page, participation is performed solely at your own risk. UC IPM - Spanish Pesticide Safety Instructor Training Virtual Workshop
Train-the-Trainer 2024
Instructor Training Workshops via Zoom
The Train the Trainer workshop will qualify participants to train fieldworkers and pesticide handlers under CA pesticide regulations.
Topics will cover 2024 regulation updates, pesticide exposure, signs and symptoms of illness, emergency medical care, proper use of personal protective equipment, safe handling and transportation of pesticides, and laws and regulations regarding labels and safety data sheets.
This training is approved by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR). Each participant will receive a certificate and continuing education units are PENDING. All workshops run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

River City Waterway Alliance - Ali's Friday Arcade Creek Cleanup at Hidden Oaks Apts. (12.0)
Please join Ali and crew as we return to Arcade Creek behind the Hidden Oaks Apartments. This will be our first visit here since April when the channel had significant amounts of water. Well, it is now dry and we want to see how well we did poking and culling around in the water during our prior 11 visits here during the wet season!We will continue to partner with Arcade Creek – Adopt A Creek Project to focus on another infamously trashed stretch of this 16.2 mile creek. We will meet at the same apartment complex where we performed numerous cleanups earlier this year.We will park in the SOUTHERN most parking lot in the Hidden Oaks Apartment Complex, gear up, and walk to Arcade Creek. Please arrive on time as the complex is fairly expansive and the route to our meeting spot could be confusing.Please bring water and only do what you are comfortable doing. River City Waterway Alliance - American River Cleanup at Woodlake
This portion of the Woodlake section of the American River Parkway is undergoing a huge facelift. Camps have been removed and large debris has been removed by County Parks. However, this area is once again in need of RCWA volunteer love.We will meet up at the parkway gate at the Northgate off-ramp from Highway 160 (eastbound). We will drive to a nearby parking area. The gate will be closed, so be sure to be there before 8 am. The area is mostly flat with easy access.RCWA will provide bags, but please bring along your grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available.As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.

Elk Grove Anti-Trash Volunteers - Bufferlands Collaboration Clean-up 10.0
Note new start time to beat the heat.Picking up where we left off in July, we will hike a ways (or possibly shuttle) from our access area. We will continue to move upstream along Morrison Creek.Join us as we continue our collaboration with EGAT, River City Waterway Alliance (RCWA) and Sacramento Area Sewer District to clean up the Bufferlands. Saturday’s event continues our efforts to address the trash and debris buildup at Sac Sewer’s Bufferlands ecosystem.Have you heard of this beautiful ecosystem? Fed by several creeks, the Bufferlands can also become a graveyard for trash and debris washed down from upstream storm water systems and encampments.This event is our 10th in a series of cleanups (3rd this year), and our goal is to remove as much trash from the Bufferlands and promote efforts to prevent trash from entering the ecosystem in the future.Please arrive *prior* to 8:30 am. The best place to meet will be in the furthest southwest corner of the Delta Shores Shopping Center parking lot—immediately west of the “At Home” store. There is plenty of space to park in case people arrive early. From there, we will either caravan or carpool further into the site. Latecomers will not be accommodated as gates will be locked after we enter.
If anybody needs to leave early, that will be fine, as we have a way to depart through the gates.Volunteers who have yet to participate with RCWA will need to arrive early to sign waivers, and everyone will need to sign the event sheet.Please bring your own canteen into the cleanup location. Water and Porta Potty will be available on site.The event will range in difficulty from easy to advanced and might not be suitable for children under the age of 16. There will be plenty of hard-core badgering in the muddy creek (digging out the big stuff), but also lots of easy detail work along the flat floodplain and areas next to the creek.We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. As there is water in the creek, participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water.
