Event Name: Super Bowl Clean-Up of Arcade Creek
Before the Big Game join fellow SPIU volunteers as they show some love to Arcade Creek along Tempo Park in the Sunrise area. While still having time to watch the game.
This stretch of the creek does have water in it, though most of it is shallow enough for boots — with a few short sections that will need waders. If you have a shovel, cultivator or hay hook please bring them. There are plenty of spots of ingress and egress that are not that difficult into Arcade Creek.
During a scouting mission there was discovered shopping carts, parts of tires, and plenty of semi-buried textiles in the creek itself. There was also plenty of trash along the top of the creek — bottles, cups, cans, etc. — for those not wishing to get into the creek.
Difficulty level is 3 – 5. We will meet in the first, lower, parking lot and begin near Fair Oaks Blvd and work our way downstream.
This is a beautiful park and it deserves to be clean before this trash washes further down Arcade Creek and into the Sacramento River. I will post some photos of the trash I saw on the scouting trip.
