Steelhead Creek Cleanup
2170 Acoma Street, Sacramento, CADuration: 3 hrPublic Anyone on or off FacebookWe will be continue our attack on trash and debris lining the bed of Steelhead Creek, both new and old, as we work upstream from the Arden-Garden bridge in the direction of the scores of illegal camps along the banks upstream of the West El Camino bridge.We will meet on Acoma Street. At 8:30 am SHARP, we will caravan to the cleanup site. Late comers will not be accommodated. Folks that might need to leave early are welcome.AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 14 years old. Minors 14 and older are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event.There will be plenty of hard-core badgering (digging out the big stuff), but also lots of easy detail work along the flat floodplain above the creek. We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy, mud-resistant footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. As there is water in the creek, participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. Entry into any waters is always optional.As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. American River Clean Up
1633 Dreher St, Sacramento, CA 95811-0505, United StatesDuration: 3 hrPublic Anyone on or off FacebookDue to a concerted effort by RCWA volunteers and Sacramento County Regional Parks, all the heaping piles of trash along the Sacramento Northern Bikeway Trail Bridge (the Pipe Bridge) are quickly vanishing! Nevertheless, there are still a few trashy spots left so we are headed back.We will focus on the steep, rocky river banks, where no one else will go. There will also be plenty of easy trash nearby for those not able to brave the steep banks. There should be something for everyone.As with all nearly all of our events, sturdy, waterproof footwear would be helpful but sturdy shoes/boots should also work just fine. Long pants and long-sleeve shirts are highly recommended. This will be a difficult level event with a moderate walk.AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 14 years old. Minors 14 and older are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event.In an effort improve access to the cleanup site, we have permission to park on top of the levee. At 8:15 am, we will form a caravan starting at 1633 Dreher Street (located off North 16th Street just before Capitol Casino) and drive in together. The gate will be closed and locked at 8:30 am sharp, so please be early.We will provide bags, but please bring along your grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. If you have a cultivator or shovel, those could also be handy. Participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to enter any streams or rivers. Ali's Friday Arcade Creek Clean Up
American River CollegeDuration: 3 hrPublic Anyone on or off FacebookPlease join Ali and crew as we return to Arcade Creek near American River College to continue our post-winter Maintenance progress, working upstream. We will begin our cleanup at the Winding Way bridge near the ARC stadium. We will park on the east side of the south ARC parking lot (nearest that bridge), then cautiously walk to our cleanup spot. From there, we will follow the trash, removing litter and bulk items both in the creek and adjacent thereto. This cleanup location has some challenging access spots into the creek and may require a rope to get into the channel, however, there are some flat spots as well for easy pickin’. Waders will be helpful.We will continue to partner with Arcade Creek – Adopt A Creek Project to focus on another infamously trashed stretch of this 17-plus mile creek.Please bring water and only do what you are comfortable doing. As always, you can leave whenever you want or need.The event will range in difficulty from moderate to hard and may not be suitable for children under the age of 14. All minors must be supervised by a responsible adult.We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. Copper Creek Cleanup

This tributary flows unabated into Arcade Creek and is filled with trash that lines the bottom of the channel, polluting waterways downstream.We plan to clean the NORTH side of this area, above Greenback Lane. The area is a dry oak grove and grassy area that has several abandoned encampments, along with a ton of debris in the channel. Lots of loose trash and bulk times in this location. Boots are recommended and waders will not be needed for this cleanup.Please park in the Quiznos parking lot on the southeast corner of Greenback Lane & Garfield Avenue. We will gather our items and cross the street at the light.AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 14 years old.
