Please note, this event is scheduled for 4 hours. However, feel free to leave whenever you’d like.ย We will continue removing the piles of trash in this stretch of Arcade Creek in this area. This event will be conducted in coordination with the folks at American River Flood Control District who have graciously agreed to haul off all of the trash and encampment debris collected during this event!

Sturdy, waterproof boots, long sleeves and long pants are recommended. Folks desiring to enter any water areas will need hip or chest waders. This will be an easy to difficult level event with uneven terrain.ย This will be a 14-and-Over Event due to numerous active encampments in the area. All minors must be accompanied by an adult during the entire event. For more details go to https://www.facebook.com/events/992105619803378

RCWA - Arcade Creek @ Stock Ranch Nature Preserve 5.0

    09:00 -12:00
    2025.04.18

    6525 Aspen Gardens Way

We will be returning to Arcade Creek at Stock Ranch Nature Preserve & Van Maren Park, an area last visited in February by the wonderful steward of this area Lilia Hogan and our event partner, Republic Services.
There will be water in the creek, some small pools as well as deeper sections, so both boots and waders will be useful. It will be medium to difficult cleanup within the creek channel for those who want a challenge. Lots of easy trash pickinsโ€™ found along the top bank for those who prefer a less strenuous cleanup. Once the piles are made, we will haul everything to the dumpster provided by Republic Services (thank you!).
We will park along Stockton Ranch Road, near Aspen Gardens Way and walking to the creek. Please park on the Park side of the road, where street parking is allowed.
All minors will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the cleanup and waivers will need to be signed if you have not volunteered with us before.
As with all events shared on our Page, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
Thank you to Republic Services for coordinating with us and providing a dumpster to use! We appreciate your support and assistance.
Overall, be safe, have fun and get some โ€œExercise with a Purposeโ€!, as Bill Templin says. Thank you!ย

    Birds and Blooms Walk

    09:00 -12:00
    2025.04.19

Join Bufferlands biologists along with the Bufferlands docent team for a guided walk through the grassland, wetland and riparian habitats of the 2,000+ acre open space preserve surrounding the EchoWater Facility. Itโ€™s a great time of the year to identify a wide variety of plantsย that are in bloom and to see a number of the 246 different bird species that haveย been recorded on the property.

Advanced registration is required for this free event as space is limited. We will begin accepting reservations on April 9, so please plan accordingly.

To register, please email Chris Conardย conardc@sacsewer.com.

The location details will be emailed to registered participants ahead of the event.

River City Waterway Alliance is partnering with Caltrans for this BIG collaborative Arcade Creek Cleanup in the Norwood area! Please mark โ€œGoingโ€ for this cleanup on our FB event page, so we have a proper headcount of volunteers.
This will be our 81st cleanup of Arcade Creek at this project site, where over 700,000 lbs of trash and encampment debris have already been removed since February 2024.
Our apologies, but this will be a 14-and-Over Event due to numerous active encampments in the area. All minors must be accompanied by an adult during the entire event.
We will continue removing the piles of trash in this stretch of Arcade Creek in this area. This event will also be conducted in coordination with our friends at Forensiclean who have graciously agreed to haul off all of the trash and encampment debris collected during this event!
Sturdy boots, long sleeves and long pants are recommended due to thorns and stickers on the vegetation. This will be an easy to difficult level event with uneven terrain.
RCWA will provide bags, but please bring along your grabbers, buckets, shovels, cultivators, rakes and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available.
As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
Overall, be safe, have fun and get some โ€œExercise with a Purposeโ€ as Bill Templin says.
    Thank you!
