River City Waterway Alliance - American River Cleanup @ The Pipe Bridge

    09:56
    2025.02.27

Rudy will be leading this crew into the trash battle for this special day – please don’t let our most loyal, dedicated volunteer down!!!
If you have ever crossed the river on the Sacramento Northern Bikeway Trail Bridge (the Pipe Bridge), you have probably seen all the trash in the river and along the trail on the south side near Blue Diamond. After making a huge dent recently, we are returning to tackle more trashy spots.
We will focus on the steep, rocky river banks, where no one else will go. There will also be plenty of easy trash nearby for those not able to brave the steep banks. There should be something for everyone.
Sturdy, waterproof footwear would be helpful but sturdy shoes/boots should also work just fine. This will be a difficult level event with a moderate walk.
AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 14 years old. Minors older than 14 are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event.
In an effort improve access to the cleanup site, we have permission to park on top of the levee. At 8:45 am, we will form a caravan starting at 1633 Dreher Street (located off North 16th Street just before Capitol Casino) and drive in together. The gate will be closed and locked at 9:00 am sharp, so please be early.
We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy waterproof footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. If you have a cultivator or shovel, those could also be handy. Participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to enter any streams or rivers. Entry into any waters is always optional.
As with all events shared on our Page, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
Overall, be safe, have fun and get some “Exercise with a Purpose”!, as Bill Templin says. Thank you! 💚

River City Waterway Alliance - Ali's Friday Arcade Creek Cleanup at Keoncrest

    09:00 -12:00
    2025.02.28

We will be returning to this stretch for our second formal winter maintenance mode cleanup. We will be focusing on the trash and debris within the creek channel and welcome anyone who would like to clean along the top banks.
There will be water in most stretches of the channel, but boots should be good, except for a few deeper pools of water. We will be meeting along Keoncrest and entering behind the 4-plexes.
This cleanup will have some challenging access spots into the creek and may require a rope to get into the channel, however, there are some flat spots as well for easy pickin’.
The event will range in difficulty from moderate to hard and will not be suitable for children under the age of 14.
We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy WATERPROOF footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. Participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. Entry into any waters is always optional.
As with all events shared on our Page, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.

Elk Grove Anti-Trash Volunteers - Laguna Cr Drainage Zone in Old EG

    09:00 -11:00
    2025.03.01

Hooray! It’s finally dry enough to return and finish the drainage zone adjacent to the railroad tracks, both north and south of Elk Grove Blvd.
Best place to park is the lot behind 9052 Elk Grove Boulevard. It’s a little tricky getting there, so please use Google maps to see where it is. You can also park along Elk Grove Boulevard.
Wagons or wheelbarrows will be useful, and there’s a possibility we might be able to get a truck into a portion of the area to transport the trash where it can be easily picked up.
We will also encourage cleanup of the alley, the main road, and other areas nearby.
Mud boots might still be useful as there are a few puddles.
Elk Grove is worth the work!
New to cleanups? Please arrive 15 minutes early to get signed in and get gear. If you have supplies, please bring your own gloves, buckets, bags, but we have items for you. Buckets, gloves, grabbers, vests, bags.
Please wear appropriate clothing, boots 🥾 or closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, hats, and bring your own water.
All cleanups are done at your own risk, but safety first! Our trash safety talk starts promptly at 9:00 am.
    See you soon!!
    Let’s Clean Elk Grove together!

River City Waterway Alliance - American River Cleanup @ El Manto Access 3.0

    09:00 -12:00
    2025.03.01

We will return to this area again to hike on rocky terrain, on small trails through the old dredge tailings where we will continue to discover dozens of small abandoned camps and lots of trash, on the surface and buried under the soil. A GeoTrash map will be available for those who have Google Maps. There will be plenty of trash to be found with or without the map. Free parking.
We will focus on areas where no one else will go, but there will also be plenty of easy trash for those unable to brave the rocks. There should be something for everyone.
This will be an easy to difficult level event with a moderate walk.
AGE LIMIT: This event is not suitable for minors under 14 years old. Minors older than 14 are invited, but must be supervised by a responsible adult during the entire event.
We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy waterproof footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available.
