River City Waterway Alliance - American River Cleanup at Sunrise Bridge North

    09:00 -12:00
    2024.06.02
We are need to go back to this beautiful section of the American River Parkway to clean many abandoned camps, along steep banks near the Sunrise Bridge, that CoParks have already been through cleaning with the bobcat. We cleaned under the bridge back on 7/9/2023 (https://youtu.be/w4BYBgTg__k). That area needs a little work, but our focus will be working along many trails and hidden areas under thick a tree canopy nearby.
Free parking passes will be available at Sacramento Bar Park river access. We will then hike a short distance to our cleanup site under the bridge. (Directions: Sunrise Blvd, west on Fair Oaks then south on Pennsylvania Ave at River Rat Raft Rentals. This road will take you down to the parkway parking lot)
This area of the river is truly beautiful and an after cleanup dip will refresh us all. Maybe a picnic would be nice.
The areas on the hill will range in difficulty from moderate to hard, and may not be suitable for children under the age of 16, but here will be something for almost everyone in the beautiful areas along the river and picnic areas nearby. Children must be supervised by an adult.
We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. If there is water in the creek, participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. Entry into any waters is always optional.
As with all events shared on our Page, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
Overall, be safe, have fun and get some “Exercise with a Purpose”!, as Bill Templin says. Thank you!

River City Waterway Alliance - Discovery Park Woodlands Cleanup

    08:00 -11:00
    2024.06.06
WE WILL BE STARTING AT 8AM TO BEAT THE HEAT.
We will park in the Archery range parking lot. Parking passes will be available there. (If the park is still closed we will meet at Jibboom Street entrance).
We will continue cleaning where we left off last time. We will be cleaning trails and camps that have previously been cleared by County staff. Lots of smalls and trash hiding in bramble. This will be an easy hike with lots of trash. Something for everyone in this beautiful section of the river. RCWA will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available.
As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.

River City Waterway Alliance - Ali's Friday Arcade Creek Cleanup

    09:00 -12:00
    2024.06.07
Please join Ali for this MAINTENANCE MODE cleanup of Arcade Creek near Arcade Creek Park. We will continue to partner with Arcade Creek – Adopt A Creek Project to focus on another infamously trashed stretch of this 16.2 mile creek.
We will park on Cameron Ranch Drive, then walk to the creek and work downstream of Garfield Avenue. When parking, please give plenty of clearance for driveways and trash bins.
Please bring lots of water and only do what you are comfortable doing. As always, you can leave whenever you want or need. This cleanup location has some challenging access spots into the creek and may require a rope to get into the channel, however, there are some flat spots as well for easy pickings.
We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy waterproof footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. If you have a cultivator or shovel, those could also be handy. There will be water in the creek in some spots. Participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. The water shouldn’t be too chilly this time of year.
Thank you!

Sacramento Picks It Up - Mckinley Park Trash Dash

    09:00 -12:00
    2024.06.08
Plan to come out on Saturday, June 8th for our monthly Trash Dash. We will have members of Sacramento’s Professional Finishers Union District Council 16 helping us, and providing coffee and donuts at 9:00 am. Plan to come out and enjoy some breakfast before we all work to clean things up around McKinley Park. Mother Nature has a sunny day in store for us! This is a very family friendly event, and also a great opportunity for any local students to get community service credits.
Our awesome Parks team will be out with the Tool Trailer so we can really get things done—such as pruning some of the landscape plants and cleaning up planting beds.
Come out, meet some new friends and make our neighborhood shiny. Our group will be out there from 9 am until noon, meeting up by the duck pond. Bring work gloves if you have them, and stay hydrated!
Look for our signs at the park! And for volunteers to check in, the city has gone paperless. Here is the link for the event:

Please go into the link before coming to the event. You can register and say you’ll be at the Trash Dash, no paper form to fill out.

River City Waterway Alliance - Robla Creek Cleanup 2.0

    09:00 -12:00
    2024.06.08-2024.07.08
This Cleanup will be funded in part by a City of Sacramento Community Action Grant awarded by the Stormwater Quality Improvement Program. We would like to sincerely thank the City of Sacramento.
RCWA will once again partner with Robla Park Community Association (RPCA) to remove trash and debris from Robla Creek, a small waterway that flows into Steelhead Creek.
Please park along the street at the intersection of Claire Ave. & Sully St. and arrive early to sign in and enjoy donuts provided by the RPCA.
We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy WATERPROOF footwear, grabbers, buckets, cultivators, shovels and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. We will concentrate both on dry land and the water channel to remove debris. There will be water in the creek, possibly fairly deep in a few spots. Participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. Entry into any waters is always optional.
As with all events shared on our Page, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
