    RCWA - Robla Creek Cleanup

    09:00 -12:00
    05/19/2024
RCWA has partnered with Robla Park Community Association (RPCA) to remove trash and debris from Robla Creek, a small waterway that flows into Steelhead Creek.
Please park along the street at the intersection of Claire Ave. & Sully St. and arrive early to sign in and enjoy donuts provided by the RPCA.
We will provide bags, but please bring along your sturdy WATERPROOF footwear, grabbers, buckets, and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available. We will concentrate both on dry land and the water channel to remove debris. There will be water in the creek, possibly fairly deep in a few spots. Participants will be required to wear rain boots or waders if they intend to get into the water. Entry into any waters is always optional.
As with all events shared on our Page, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
Overall, be safe, have fun and get some “Exercise with a Purpose”!, as Bill Templin says. Thank you!

RCWA - 5 over 50 Outstanding Volunteer Award Ceremony

    09:30
    05/21/2024
All are invited to attend the award ceremony to celebrate RCWA volunteers, Wayne Watts and Margarita Chavez, when they receive a “5 Over 50 Outstanding Volunteer” Award, on Tuesday, May 21 at the Sacramento County Board of Supervisor chambers in the County Administration Building (700 H Street).
Please arrive early by 9:30 am to secure a seat. Awards are expected to be announced at approximately 10:00 am but the agenda of Board of Supervisor meetings is subject to change so the awards might be announced a bit early or even after 10:00 am.
The public parking garage for the 700 H St. County Administration Center is located at 725 7th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. The public entrance, located at the corner of 7th & G Streets, will take you to the upper level of the two-story facility.
There will be a table in the lobby area where you can pick up parking passes for free parking in the County lot. When you leave the parking lot, scan the pass in the machine and the parking fee will be waived. It’s important to park in the County garage, as fees for street parking or other parking lots cannot be waived.
Please join RCWA in celebrating this honor with Wayne, Margarita and their families!

RCWA - Arcade Creek Cleanup @ Norwood (15.0) with ARFCD

    09:00 -12:00
    05/22/2024
Our apologies, but this will be an 18 and Over Event due to numerous active encampments in the area.
We will continue removing the piles of trash in this stretch of Arcade Creek in this area. This event will be conducted in coordination with the folks at American River Flood Control District who have graciously agreed to haul off all of the trash and encampment debris collected during this event!
Sturdy, waterproof boots, long sleeves and long pants are recommended. Folks desiring to enter the creek will need hip or chest waders. This will be an easy to difficult level event with uneven terrain.
RCWA will provide bags, but please bring along your grabbers, buckets, cultivators, rakes and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets and grabbers may be available.
As with all events shared on RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.
Overall, be safe, have fun and get some “Exercise with a Purpose” as Bill Templin says.
    Thank you!
