Spring Service Day - Rancho Cordova
Join the City of Rancho Cordova and Rancho Cordova In Action for Spring Service Day on Saturday, May 18, 2024. At this inaugural event, residents and organizing partners will celebrate service in Rancho Cordova and reignite our community’s passion for volunteerism.
Residents will have the opportunity to volunteer for one of over a dozen projects throughout the day, make in-kind donations and more. Prior to heading to individual project sites, volunteers will gather at Rancho Cordova City Hall, 2729 Prospect Park Drive, to kick the day off with tasty food, fun activities and high-energy performances with other wonderful service-minded people.
From park clean-ups, to mural painting and home renovations, there will be something for everyone at Spring Service Day.
American River Bike Fest - American River Parkway Foundation
Whether you’re a hardcore rider or just like to get out for a cruise, the American River Bike Fest has something for everyone. This is not a timed ride, but rather an opportunity to get outside, give back and make some new connections and memories.
The morning will begin at William B. Pond Park with staggered start times starting at 6 a.m. Along the way, riders will be able to stop at different rest stops and enjoy snacks and services.
All riders will meet back at William B. Pond Park after their rides for a festival with food, libations, raffle, activities, live music from The Leaping Blennies, and more!

Elk Grove Anti-Trash - North Laguna Creek Area
Sometimes we return to our popular spots to do a little maintenance and mop up. These areas are often heavily used, and frequented by campers and then abandoned.
We will have plenty of trash from abandoned camps as well as regular trail trash. Will be looking under the bushes, along the fence line, along the grass edge to get this place looking good again. For anybody willing to head down to the shoreline going westward, you’ll find some washout trash as well as some tumbled down trash from camps.
Best places to park would be across the street from the Laguna Creek Apartments at the UA Laguna Village theaters. You can also park along Center Parkway just west of the tiny park where we will be staging the trash.
We recommend wearing rubber boots since we will be in weeds and foxtails, and a little bit of stickers. You can also wear hiking boots with gaiters to protect your ankles and legs from stickers.
The terrain will be somewhat uneven, since we will be occasionally off trail and down slopes.
We hope to work all the way Westward to the channel that has trash and some rocky slopes (and across Center Parkway to the channel on the other side), and then eastward all the way to Bruceville Road.New to cleanups? Please arrive early to get signed in and get gear. If you have supplies, please bring your own gloves, buckets, bags, but we have items for you. Loaner buckets, gloves, grabbers, vests, bags.
Please wear appropriate clothing, boots or closed-toe shoes (as recommended above), sunscreen, bug spray, hats, and bring your own water.
All cleanups are done at your own risk, but safety first! Our trash safety talk starts promptly at 9:00 am.
See you soon!!

RCWA - Strawberry Manor Neighborhood Cleanup
Thanks to the City of Sacramento’s Neighborhood Clean-Up Grant Program, Sacramento Area Creeks Council is partnering with River City Waterway Alliance to clean the Strawberry Manor Neighborhood which sits at the northeast corner of the confluence of Arcade and Steelhead Creeks. We hope to remove trash that is not only a blight, but that also has a high potential for making its way into storm drains and adjacent waterways. This event will be fairly easy and appropriate for all ages, however, children under 16 must be supervised by an adult. Please park on the street adjacent to Strawberry Manor Park.SACC and RCWA will provide bags and will haul away the trash, but please bring along your sturdy footwear, grabbers, buckets and gloves – a limited number of loaner buckets, gloves and grabbers may be available. As with all events shared by SACC and RCWA, participation is performed solely at your own risk. Please place safety FIRST and do only what you feel comfortable doing. Moreover, participants will be required to sign a Release and Waiver form if they have not done so previously.Thank you!Sacramento Area Creeks Council

Plan to come out for our monthly Trash Dash, and this is our quarterly event sponsored by the City of Sacramento Recycling and Solid Waste division. We will be there, and Mother Nature has a sunny day in store for us! This is a very family friendly event, and also a great opportunity for any local students to get community service credits.Neighborhood Clean-up Grant Awardee: With the help of Friends of East Sacramento, MESA has received a grant from the city’s Recycling and Solid Waste division to support our Trash Dash quarterly. We will be focusing on the Northern Alhambra Corridor (B Street to J Street between 28th and Alhambra Blvd). This of course includes McKinley Park and Miwok Middle School. Our grant is $800 for this quarter and will cover supplies for our efforts and refreshments. This grant is intended to help clean up our local areas while also increasing recycling education and efforts. We’ll have trash grabbers and trash bags—as well as recycling bags to put anything that can be recycled in. Our awesome Parks team will be out with the Tool Trailer so we can really get things done. Come out, meet some new friends and make our neighborhood shiny. Our group will be out there from 10 am until noon, meeting up by the duck pond. Bring work gloves if you have them, and stay hydrated!See lessRiver City Waterway Alliance - Walk on the Wildside
