    American River Parkway Clean Up

    09:00 -12:00
    10/08/2022

This is an urgent event to clean up some of the abandoned campsites near the closed Campus Commons Golf Course.   These campsites were cleaned up by SPIU volunteers earlier this spring.  These sites were reoccupied shortly after we had cleaned them and remained occupied all summer long. We need to get these campsites cleaned up again before the rainy season starts up.

We will be teaming up with Sacramento County Regional Parks. Waivers will be required and this will be for over 16 only. BYOB (bags & buckets) & G (gloves and grabbers). Bring your own water, snacks, sturdy shoes, and grubby clothes that you are ok with getting dirty.  We will have extra bags and buckets and gloves for anyone that needs anything. All volunteer activities are performed at one’s own risk, and safety is always first.

Important note:  We will be parking in a different spot than previous Northrop events to avoid any issues from parking on Northrop. The new parking will be at an office complex at 567/601 University Avenue- (more secure parking) and we will walk to the cleanup site from there. This will give everyone a chance to see the work being done to improve the levees in this area.

Location:  American River Pkway, Northrop Access. Parking at 567/601 University Ave.

    Time: 9:00 a.m. – noon
