Household Hazardous Waste: What to Know

Toxic Materials

Toxic materials must be disposed of at one of the Household Hazardous Waste Facilities. HHW accepted the following materials: 
Acids Aerosol cans
Antifreeze Automotive products
Brake/transmission fluid Car batteries (lead acid/car, 6 volt or more, max of 2)
Electronic waste (computer monitors and televisions Florescent lamps/tubes
Gasoline and other flammables Herbicides
Household batteries Household cleaners
Mercury thermometers Most products labeled DANGER, CAUTION, WARNING, FLAMMABLE or POISON
Paint thinners Paints: oil-based or latex
Pesticides Poisons
Pool chemicals Propane cylinders
Sharps (needles,lancets) Solvents
Used Motor Oil Used Oil Filters

Where can I drop off my hazardous material?

Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Station

Located at 8491 Fruitridge Rd

Hours of Operation:
Tuesday thru Thursday
8:00am – 5:00pm
Residents may only bring in ABOP items (Antifreeze, Batteries, Used Motor Oil and Filters, and Latex Paint).

Friday and Saturday
8:00am - 5:00pm
Residents can bring ABOP and all other household hazardous waste materials.

Hours of Operation
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

(Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day)
